Engineering Manager

At Ideaware we are looking for a Engineering Manager with a technical background in Ruby on Rails to join a fast-growing health and wellness company that’s transforming the way people manage their well-being. In this role, you will help ensuring the engineering team delivers software designed, built, and maintained to the highest standards to enable the company's growth.
This is a full-time, fully remote position, based in Latin America, where you will be working closely with cross-functional teams to design, build, and scale products used by thousands of users. Our clients value engineers who are proactive, collaborative, and capable of delivering high-quality solutions in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Write code for technical deliverables, without blocking or slowing down the progress of your team.
- Empower the engineering team to develop scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems.
- Contribute via leveraged output activities -- one-on-ones, training, pair programming, and adding CI checks.
- Promote good engineering practices within the team and beyond.
- Identify and implement improvements to our products and processes to support our growth.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure technical solutions align with product strategy and reasonable timelines.
- Ensure team members understand how the work they are doing ties to wider company goals.
- Manage a remote team across multiple timezones.

- Experience with rapid growth and growing teams.
- Experience with Salesforce Service Cloud or Salesforce Commerce Cloud.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Technical background in Ruby on Rails.
- 6+ years of professional experience in software development, including at least 2–3 years in a leadership or management role.
- Proven experience building and maintaining applications using Ruby on Rails in production environments.
- Strong understanding of modern web architectures, RESTful APIs, and database design.
- Advanced knowledge of Ruby and Ruby on Rails, including performance optimization, testing, and deployment best practices.
- Familiarity with frontend technologies (React, Vue.js, or similar) to collaborate effectively across the stack.
- Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and caching systems (Redis, Memcached).
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and code quality enforcement.
- Knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or similar) and containerization tools such as Docker.
- Ability to write and review production-quality code, ensuring technical excellence without blocking team progress.
- Proven ability to mentor, coach, and develop engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Experience conducting one-on-ones, code reviews, and performance evaluations.
- Skilled in balancing technical leadership and people management, guiding engineers while keeping projects on track.
- Strong collaboration skills, capable of working cross-functionally with product, design, and operations teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on clarity, transparency, and empathy.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, balancing technical and business priorities.
- English proficiency at B2 level or above, capable of leading meetings and communicating effectively in a professional setting.
